Communicare

Communicare is a latin word, meaning to impart, to share, to make known. Why is this blog named as such?
My name is Sylvester Lee and I am from the historical city of Melaka. I am currently going through a programme called Communicare. This programme is the brainchild of one Permanent Deacon Reverend Dr Sherman Kuek, SFO whom I now recognise as my mentor and spiritual director. Communicare is a part of his ministry that is attached to the Pastoral Institute of the Melaka- Johor Diocese, where he serves as director.

Communicare is not just a programme per say, but rather a personal journey, a journey towards a true Christian life, guided by the wisdom of the Roman Catholic Church. Currently Communicare consists of me, the disciple and Dr Sherman, my mentor. He journeys with me, imparting his knowledge and wisdom, endowing me with principles held by the Roman Catholic Church in regards to all aspects of life so that I may grow and think like the Church and with the Church. In other words, at the end of the Communicare, I will possess the knowledge to be as Catholic as possible.

The Roman Catholic Church holds in Her possession the wealth of wisdom and teachings that was handed down by Jesus Himself to His apostles, and upon His chosen few were founded the Church. The Church teaches all things that are true in regards to faith and morals. Following these principles set forth by the Church, the believer is assured of a way to salvation. The mind of the Church is complex. To fully understand and grasp the full beauty of the faith requires due diligence and continuous seeking. That is why there is now great emphasis on formation within the diocese.

The best formation is actually discipleship, where the disciple, through much exposure to the faith and what it entails, guided by his mentor, will come to understand the mind of the Church. This is what Communicare seeks to accomplish, to present an opportunity for a seeker of truth to satisfy his hunger to know what his faith is all about. I have been blessed with such an opportunity. Truly I have been given the chance to know my faith deeper than ever before. Of course such a journey does not come free of costs. Personal costs.

This blog will document my thoughts as I go through Communicare. It will chronicle my life, and the challenges that I will face in making this decision to follow Christ.

Soli Deo Gloria
